During the first week of April 2017, the LRC and Witness are hosting a series of four interactive workshops on the “right to record” human rights violations in South Africa. The four workshops – which are open to the public and free of charge – will run from 09h00 to 16h30 on each day and will focus on:
The right to record the police / private security with your cellphone or camera.
Cellphone apps that you can use to secure images / video.
How to collect and use images / video as evidence for advocacy campaigns and court proceedings.
The interactive workshops are relevant to activists; members of the media, including citizen journalists; people exercising their right to peaceful protest; communities who face unlawful evictions and discrimination; public interest lawyers; and people interested in documenting human rights violations by state / private actors.
